Hopkins Park is the Chi Cross Cup 2018 season opener

Comrade Cycles Racing is excited to host this year’s Chicago Cyclocross Cup season opener on September 9th!

Register to race here.

Volunteer to help out on race day here.

Whether you’re out for your first race ever, or you’re a cyclocross veteran, come out September 9th for the 11th annual Hopkins Park CX race in DeKalb! Racing starts at 8:30 am, we’ve got a great course in store, and we’ll have food from Dave’s Slow Food. Hopkins Park is located at 1599 Sycamore Road in Dekalb, IL 60015. Full race preview and other information will be updated on the Chicago Cyclocross Cup as it becomes available.

Perhaps Cross Never Left

We will be closed this Sunday the 28th for an important landmark in the Chicago cycling scene. After a wonderful summer of road biking, muggy commuting, and mountain biking we are welcoming the arrival of cyclocross season with its unofficial #crossishere race Relay Cross this Sunday (8/28/16) in Jackson Park! There are still a few weeks before the Chicago Cross Cup kicks into full swing but Relay Cross is an absolute blast and a fun way to shake off the cobwebs of this particular racing discipline with the help of a teammate.

We will be CLOSED ON SUNDAYS from now until March.

8/28- Relay Cross

9/11- LaBagh Woods CX

10/2- Hopkins Park CX (We throw this one!)

Thank you guys! If you have any questions about cyclocross, racing, or how to get started please don’t hesitate to ask us!

The Afterglow

Hello friends,
We wanted to give an early warning that we will be closed this Saturday 12/19/2015 (as well as our regular winter Sunday closing) for the Afterglow cyclocross race in Douglas Park. Please consider racing with us and the Chicago Cutting Crew and raising some money for Blackstone Bicycle Works and West Town Bikes!

Cross is Here

If you are someone who rides a bike, or know someone who rides a bike, you probably know that cross has been coming and is now here. You’ve probably been reminded every time you look at a bike blog or instagram post, so I will get to the point. Hopkins Park CX is the second race of the all powerful and wonderful ChiCrossCup and is Sunday, October 4th. Why am I mentioning this over the other amazing races that so many shops and teams work tirelessly to throw? Because our race team Comrade Cycles Racing is throwing it! With our friends at Axletree of course.
Whether this is your first time racing or you’ve been with the Chicrosscup since the beginning you should come out. If you have any questions about registering, what to ride/wear/eat/or how to appropriately heckle just stop by the shop. Don’t know what cyclocross is? Just ask! (It’s can seem kinda strange.)
As you may already know we are closed on Sundays throughout the cyclocross season so we can all be there to race (and we continue to stay closed till March because winter). So see you Sunday at the Race!

Cyclocross Seasonal Coffee

Comrade is teaming up with Just Coffee Cooperative in Madison Wisconsin to offer a custom blended coffee roast for Cyclocross Season. We’re still working on a name for the blend and welcome your input (Cyclocroast? Comrade Robots Powered by Coffee?). We’re pretty obviously stoked about this partnership (coffee, duh) especially because Just Coffee is a worker owned cooperative roasting exclusively fair trade coffee (bicycle delivered in Madison, whatwhat!). The Comrades have been out racing Cyclocross the past few months, riding with the team Robots Powered by Love. What better way to brave the cooler temps than with a thermos full of our own special blend? Stop by the shop in the next week or so and we should have some beans for sale and a pot on for tasting.
